In my opinion, laughter is life. Those are the moments I remember and cherish most with my loved ones: the moments when we laughed together and shared humor. The moments I fell in love the hardest were when I was made to laugh like nothing was wrong and everything felt okay. When you think back on darker memories you wish you could forget but can't, try to find the laughter. Perhaps they are so unforgettable because they are devoid of laughter. Joy and happiness can be on their own, but laughter is always paired with joy and happiness. I mean, real laughter, not the giggles you do when you feel awkward or the chuckles you force when you're just trying not to hurt someone else's feelings. I mean the laughter you feel deep in your soul, that has your entire body shaking and your cheeks hurting from smiling. That laughter is always paired with joy, happiness, and love. That is the kind of human trait worth fighting for and staying alive for.

Philosophers rarely touch on the subject of laughter. When they have, they approach it in an ironically laughable way that shows they favor seriousness over humor. However, as a professional memer, I have seen humor in many different forms, and I do not agree with the philosophers. Humor is much more important than seriousness. Plato and Socrates go on and on about truth and beauty, but it blows my mind that they avoid the subject of humor when addressing such matters. Real, genuine laughter always comes with truth in beauty. Take a baby's laugh: some cultures put so much importance on that first laugh that they celebrate it with parties and gifts. Laughter is such a specifically human trait, it's a wonder why we haven't studied it more. Seriously, a life without laughter is just sad. There must be a reason why we say “laughter is the best medicine!"

Anyways, go share these memes with a philosopher and see what they have to say about them! Or maybe just share them with your therapist and see what they have to say about your impeccable sense of self-deprecating humor.
